Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

To support the Controller and CFO in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance / Accounting Department and relieve the existing staff of certain responsibilities so that they can work on other projects.

Primary Duties

 Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statement reporting.

 Prepare and analyze account reconciliations.

 Maintain the Fixed Asset and associated depreciation schedules

 Provide monthly detail to the Senior Accountant for General Journal entries

 Ensure proper recording of new purchases and disposals.

 Coordinate with Accounts Payable for check processing and entry to ensure accuracy.

 Assist Senior Accountant with payroll system and payroll related items.

 Assist the Senior Accountant with all tax compliance and required report preparation.

 Assist the Senior Accountant in tracking and maintaining company insurance policies.

 Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time – quite often on short notice - by the Senior Accountant.

Education and Skills

 A Bachelors degree in accounting, or a Bachelors degree in business with emphasis in accounting, is preferred (Associates degree will be considered).

 Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.

 Must be highly skilled in use of Excel Spreadsheets and in use of MS Word

 Good writing skills are needed in order to handle the occasional administrative needs of the department.

 Must have very good verbal skills.

 Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.

 Desire to become a CPA is preferred.
