Sanitation Superintendent Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Superintendent performs exempt work such as the daily supervision of the supervisors, hourly laborers, and lead persons. The primary duty and responsibility of the superintendent is ensuring the team in their designated department/area is working safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory agency, customer, and JBS policies and procedures.  Oversees all sanitation functions in their respected department/areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:

• Directs supervisors with respect to sanitation standards, quality, cost and meeting production goals with on time delivery of the floors
• Ensures supervisors are completing pre-operational paperwork, includes all daily paperwork required for safety, payroll, and food safety compliance.
• Actively participates in group meetings, line meetings, and supervisory meetings
• Ensures the department works safely, efficiently, and in compliance with governmental, customer, and company policies and procedures
• Trains and develops supervisors to provide management depth and develop teamwork to attain department objectives.
• Performs performance evaluations for supervisory roles in sanitation
• Works alongside management on implementation and adhering to company policies related to a clean work environment
• Understand and adhere to all union regulations in regards to hourly employees
• Physical demands of this position may include a great deal of walking and stair climbing
• Position available in Fab and kill

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Degree or its Equivalent
• General working knowledge of computers/technology (e.g., Microsoft Excel and Word)
• Ability to work in work environments with extreme temperature fluctuations.

• Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, strong people skills
• Strong desire to work in a challenging and hands-on environment
• Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in sanitation or processing industry
