Job Summary

The Quarry Supervisor oversees daily operations at the quarry, ensuring efficient and safe extraction, processing, and delivery of raw materials to meet production targets. This role is responsible for supervising quarry crews, managing equipment and resources, enforcing safety standards, and coordinating with plant management to ensure alignment with operational and quality requirements.

Compensation

$85,000 - $100,000 is the associated range, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily quarry production activities, including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and crushing
  • Ensure compliance with all MSHA/OSHA, environmental, and company safety policies and procedures
  • Monitor production metrics, report on performance, and implement improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce downtime
  • Oversee the maintenance and safe operation of quarry equipment, ensuring adherence to preventative maintenance schedules
  • Support mine planning activities by coordinating extraction sequences and aligning production with long-term quarry plans
  • Manage stockpiles, inventory, and raw material flow to ensure consistent quality and supply for downstream operations
  • Coordinate and supervise blasting operations, ensuring proper handling of explosives and compliance with regulations
  • Conduct inspections of work areas, equipment, and processes to ensure quality standards and identify hazards
  • Provide leadership, training, and performance feedback to quarry employees to develop skills and maintain high morale
  • Collaborate with plant, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure operational goals are achieved
  • Responsible for creating shift schedules, managing crew overtime assignments, arranging for vacation coverage, and approving employee timesheets
  • Fills in for the Mobile Equipment Maintenance Manager when that employee is on vacation
  • May be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as production demands dictate

Education

Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, geology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered

Requirements/Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in quarry, aggregates, or mining operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Comprehensive knowledge of quarry equipment, production methods, and safety regulations
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in quarry management software, MS Office Suite, and data reporting tools
  • Requires regular presence in outdoor and industrial environments - Ability to work with exposure to dust, noise, and weather conditions
  • Quarry Operations Management – Knowledge of quarrying processes, blasting, crushing, screening, and material handling
  • Equipment Operation & Maintenance – Proficiency with heavy equipment and knowledge of preventative maintenance
  • Mine Planning & Scheduling – Ability to interpret quarry plans and align daily production with long-term strategies
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance – Strong knowledge of MSHA/OSHA and environmental safety requirements
  • Quality Control & Material Specifications – Understanding of raw material testing and compliance standards
  • Drilling & Blasting Fundamentals – Knowledge of blast design, drilling techniques, and vibration control
  • Production Reporting & Data Analysis – Skills in using quarry management systems and performance reporting
  • Environmental Management – Knowledge of dust suppression, water management, and reclamation requirements
  • Inventory & Stockpile Management – Ability to manage stockpiles and ensure proper material flow
  • Team Leadership & Training – Strong leadership and crew development skills

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
